Yasir Arman visits the Oslo Center
The Secretary General of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement- North (SPLM/N), Yasir Arman, paid a courtesy visit to the Oslo Center Wednesday Jan. 11th.
During the meeting he briefed the Oslo Center on the dire humanitarian situation in Sudan’s areas of the South Kordofan (Nuba Mountains) and South Blue Nile which are being denied humanitarian access by the government in Sudan and subjected to aerial bombardments. He also shared his views on the resolution of the crisis in South Sudan citing that the crisis is a leadership crisis within the South Sudan’s ruling party SPLM, and that it must be solved through a dialogue and reconciliation process that must involve all the leaders of the different SPLM factions.
Mr. Arman urged the people of Norway to continue to stand with the suffering people of Sudan and urged the Norwegian government to take a more active role in the peace process of the Sudan since Norway helped negotiated the 2005 Sudan’s Comprehensive Peace Agreement whose protocol on the two areas of South Blue Nile and South Kordofan has not been implemented and led to the war in these areas. Mr. Arman affirmed that the SPLM-N is for a negotiated peaceful settlement of the war in Sudan and will work for a secular democratic Sudan.
Mr. Arman was accompanied by SPLM-N representative to France, Mr. Murad Muodia.
